Who We Are

The Greenup Township Public Library is located at 101 North Franklin Street in Greenup, Illinois. The Greenup Township Public Library provides free services to all residents living within the boundaries of Greenup Township with services available to all others for a fee.

The library holds over 18,500 materials including large print books, books on cassette and books on CDs, DVDs, video casssettes, reference materials, and genealogy materials.  Other services available are a fax machine, photocopier, and a meeting room.

In total, over 18,880 items were checked out of the library during the year 2007! In addition to these items, many people entered the library to utilize print and electronic reference resources, access the Internet through the Library’s four public  computers, view a Library exhibit, or attend one of the Library’s special events.  If the library does not have the item you're looking for, it is possible to borrow from another library in most instances.

Our Mission

The mission of the Greenup Township Public Library is to provide current leisure and informational materials for persons of all ages.  Special emphasis is placed on popular adult and children materials along with providing special programs to help stimulate young children’s interests and appreciation for reading and learning.  The library serves a leisure and educational center for all residents of the community.

The Greenup Township Public Library is located in Greenup, Illinois, a small rural community serving a population of 2,411.  The library is open thirty-five hours a week.


As a member of Illinois Heartland Library System, the library has access to many services and educational opportunities which they provide.
